On 12th October 2010, over 100 older Londoners and arts professionals took to The Golden Star for a cruise along the Thames and an afternoon of music, dance and a chance to network, plan for the future.... and gossip.

The networking event was inspired by a UK / Brazilian cultural exchange in which partner organisation Entelechy Arts was involved, supported by DCMS, Arts Council England, British Council and the Brazilian Ministry of Culture. From their time in Brazil, Entelechy Arts forged a relationship with an elders theatre company based in the southern Brazilian city of Londrina, Casa das Fases. This event was part of the reciprocal visit of their director, João Henrique Bernardi.

Performances from Blackfriars Nightingales, Entelechy Arts and Purple Poets lifted the mood sky-high against the stunning backdrop of the London skyline.

David Slater, Artistic Director of Entelechy Arts said, “This is an great opportunity for artists working in very different environments across different cultures to share their experiences. In these difficult financial times, it is encouraging to see this level of support for such inspiring and life-changing creative work and for cross-cultural dialogue between communities.

Capital Age Festival hopes to work with Audiences London and Entelechy Arts in the future to continue delivering opportunities for people to enjoy performances by older artists and meet like-minded people to talk about the future of older people's arts.
